Connect to Your Body With These 3 Steps!
Your body tells you everything, I truly believe that!
Have you ever felt like something is wrong or right with a sensation in your body? When you meet someone and your stomach has a touch of a spasm, and you're not sure why but you don’t feel a connection to that person or maybe even feel uncomfortable?
I remember one fine morning after shower when I stood in front of the mirror looking at myself and I knew something was off. 3 months later I layed in an operation room as I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
It’s hard to believe and also hard to explain sometimes, but there was this sense of discomfort and dis-ease that was expressed to me through my body and I’m so grateful that I listened.
Since then, I’ve made it my mission and my daily practice to find ways to connect with my body and listen to its messages and the information she generously shares. I tune in and listen to what my body needs, wants, likes or dislikes.
Here are 3 steps I’ve found to be very helpful and effective to awaken your connection with your body:
1- Move your body:
Doesn’t matter what you’re doing, you can be dancing, working out or walking in the park, just decide to get up and get moving!
Aside from the many benefits of physical activities, it’s a daily opportunity for you to notice how truly amazing your body is and a great way to release what’s no longer needed.
2- Listen:
Listen to your body, truly listen, with your heart, really feel it. Put your hands on your body and take a few slow and deep belly breaths. Not only it calms your mind but also gives you a deeper access to your physical body.
3- Ditch the negative self talk:
Acknowledge the feeling, notice where it is coming from, how it feels in your body, then say thank you and add something more loving, something kind and generous about your body, to it. By doing this process repeatedly, you’ll notice that overtime the self talk volume drops lower and lower.
Cherish your body and treat it with kindness and gratitude, it’s the only one you have.
Love,
Nousha
