5 Ways To Upgrade Your Summer!

Summer is a time to slow down and relax, but it can also be a busy season. Vacations, special occasions to enjoy,  seeing friends and work is the cherry on top. You may spend more hours outside in the sun and heat, which can take a toll even as you enjoy fun summertime activities.
You know what will make your summer even a better one? taking care of your own needs and your self-care.

Here are few ideas to upgrade your summer:

1- Summer clean your house:
Since clutter in the home translates into clutter in the mind, having an organized, clean, and happy home will help you enjoy the warmer months and boost your mood.
Spend a day organizing your junk drawer, donating clothes you don’t wear, and optimizing the space in your kitchen.

You can also opt-in to update your decor for a happier season, minor changes like fresh flowers in vases or citrus oil in a diffuser can also make all the difference.

2- Eat fresh seasonal food:
While you may crave hearty dishes and warm meals in wintertime, you’re more likely to crave fresher foods come summer. Healthy eating is way easier when the weather is warm. Take advantage of farmers markets full of produce in their prime and base grocery lists and recipes around the many delicious fruits and vegetables that are in season, and snack on delicious watermelon and make an effort to add more water-rich foods to your diet for bonus hydration points.

3- Make the most out of the longer days:
So you know that days are longer during the summer, but have you ever thought about changing your daily routine to make the most of those long days? Longer days mean more sunlight, and more sunlight means more energy.
Take full advantage of the extra energy by waking up early for a workout or even just adding 30 minutes to your morning routine for some extra “me” time.

4- Hydrate your skin and your body:
You're at a higher risk of becoming dehydrated during the summer. You may notice flaky, itchy, red, or cracked skin. You can also develop headaches, fatigue, and dizziness when dehydrated.
You can help yourself remember to drink more water by taking an insulated water bottle with you wherever you go. It will keep your water cold and make it easy to always have water on hand. You should increase your water intake when sweating more or running around.

You can also introduce more fruits and vegetables with a high water content to help you stay hydrated. Foods like watermelon, oranges, and celery all have a lot of water. They will provide that extra boost of hydration essential during the summer.

It's also important to moisturize your skin from the outside. After showering, apply oils or cream to help lock in moisture and prevent water loss.

5- Don’t forget to rest:
It can be very easy to overextend ourselves, when the weather is so vibrant!
That’s true any time of year, but especially in summer, when friendlier weather inspires many to do more.
So have your summer adventures and connect with friends and family, but don’t forget to take time to slow down when you need it, so you don’t exhaust yourself. And remember: It’s okay to say no to invitations or other plans if that’s what’s best for you.

Much love,
Nousha
